Persona

So, I found this interesting film in the RSAMD and watched it yesterday. It's called "Persona" and is directed by Ingmar Bergman. For those of you who don't know him, he is probably Sweden's best director, and one of the most influential European directors.

I've watched other Bergman films in the past (Wild Strawberries, The Seventh Seal, The Devil's Eye), and they all deal with human emotions and relationships, as does Persona. However I found this one quite different from the other three.

Bergman is a master in visuals and has always a terrific cast (many of his actors are recurring, but that doesn't bother you). And from what I had seen before, he usually followed a straight narrative. In Persona, the imagination is mixed with reality, makes you wonder if what you saw was real or somebody's dream, or if everything was a dream. I believe, in the end, each one can draw a different conclusion, depending on his personal feelings.

Also, I felt the influence on modern cinema, particularly on the latest films of David Lynch (with the main difference that Lynch's films don't make any sense, while Bergman's do!), films like "Stay" or "The Machinist" and a couple others.

Finally, I have to say this one again, AMAZING VISUALS!!!

Cya all
